Thursday's minor league roundup

  • Pawtucket 8, Charlotte 3
    • Lance Broadway gave up nine hits (including a homer) and walked four over six innings, and was probably lucky to only allow four runs.
    • Ehren Wassermann pitched a scoreless ninth, allowing a hit and striking out one.
    • Jerry Owens went 1-for-3 with a walk and his 14th stolen base; Brad Eldred had two hits and an RBI.
    • Josh Fields went 0-for-4 and committed his eighth error, a throwing one.  Danny Richar also drew the collar.
  • Birmingham 3, Montgomery 1
    • Miguel Negron went 3-for-4 with a triple, two runs scored and an RBI out of the leadoff spot.
    • Victor Mercedes doubled twice and drove in two; Stefan Gartrell went 3-for-3 with a double.
    • Clayton Richard fell one out short of a complete game, allowing one run on three hits and three walks while striking out six.
  • Myrtle Beach 4, Winston-Salem 1
    • Anthony Carter's first start in High-A ball didn't go well -- 5 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 1 K
    • Ricky Brooks threw three scoreless innings in relief.
    • Paulo Orlando went 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI.
  • Kannapolis 9, West Virginia 6
    • Sergio Miranda and Christian Marrero each had two hits and two RBI.
    • Dale Mollenhauer went 3-for-5 with two doubles and an RBI.
    • Logan Johnson went 2-for-4 with a solo homer; Matt Inouye went 2-for-4 with a double.
    • Gregory Infante pitched 4 1/3 scoreless innings in relief of an ineffective Miguel Socolovich.
    • Henry Mabee gave up three runs (one earned) over two innings, inflating his ERA to 1.36.
