Sporcle Saturday: The last extra-innings win in Cleveland

Thursday night saw the White Sox finally win a game in Cleveland in 2018. It also marked the first time the White Sox won a game in extra-innings in Cleveland since 2012. I suppose that in and of itself isn’t that strange — after all, just five seasons are sandwiched between the 2012 and 2018 campaigns — but the same pitcher picked up the win for the White Sox both times. That seems a little less likely to happen, considering that winning pitcher played for two other teams between then and now.

Because the White Sox have struggled to provide me with little to celebrate, Sporcle-wise (I’ve got a few fantastic ideas that would make for some terribly depressing Sporcles, but haven’t we suffered enough this season?), today’s Sporcle will examine that game: who were the players involved (on both sides) in that extra-innings win on May 8, 2012? How many can you name? Good luck!

Quiz Parameters

  • I’ve allotted ten minutes for completion attempts.
  • For hints I’ve provided the position of the player (including pinch hitters/runners and relief pitchers), and separated the players by team.

Useless information to amaze, annoy, confuse, and/or confound your friends and family

  • Just three players (combined from both teams; one for the White Sox, two for the Indians) played in both Thursday’s game and the 2012 game.
  • Excluding Thursday’s game and the 2012 game, the White Sox have gone 1-6 against Cleveland in extra innings, with five of those losses coming at Progressive Field.

18. i already forgot the ill-fated White Sox career of the LF pinch hitter. And the Indians had a pretty bad team back then.
