Beautox’s Offseason Plan

PREAMBLE

The long wait is over and the window is officially open. The sox need a few holes filled but the future is bright as the core is locked up for a while.

James McCann (Made $5.4M in 2020) – let go
Jarrod Dyson (Made $2M in 2020) – let go

COACHING STAFF

Manager: Dave Roberts – The dodgers lay an egg in the world series and LA looks to change something to deliver their parade.

Pitching coach: Roberts is given the opportunity to choose his pitching coach.

FREE AGENTS

No. 1: Marcus Stroman (three years, $54 million with a player option and buy out) AAV 18M. I personally think the market will be depressed due to Covid. He would be 32 if he opts out after 3 years for better market conditions provided his performance is still elite.

No. 2: Jose Quintana (one year 9M with a club option and buy out) AAV 9M. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more obvious fit; Jose loves Chicago and wants to stay, was traded on great terms with the franchise and still has friends within this club house, hes a perfect #4 to eventually give way to Crochet.

TRADES

No. 1: Trade RHSP Dylan Cease & OF Blake Rutherford to New York for OF Michael Conforto & LHRP Chasen Shreve. The White Sox need a right fielder that is ideally left handed and younger; to balance out the trade, Shreve offers an additional interesting left handed relief pitcher. Sox should immediately lock up Conforto as he is a FA after ’21 and due 11 million and only 27 years old. According to baseballtradevalues.com this trade is equal in value at 28.20

No. 2: Trade RHSP Reynaldo Lopez to Los Angeles for C Anthony Bemboom & International slot money. Bemboom is the back up to Max Stassi, was in the top 30 for CDA according to BP, is left handed (Grandal was above average against RHP to the tune of 110 wRC+, Bemboom crushed RHP, good for a wRC+ of 148, near identical to Grandal vs. LHP 147 wRC+) , and controllable till 2025. Angels need more pitching and this is a nice upside play for them, Lopez gets a change of scenery and the sox get a solid left handed catcher with a good bat against RHP and more money to sign Colas or Cespedes (which ever is declared available). According to baseballtradevalues.com this trade is equal in value at 0
