Sporcle Saturday: Hit Categories IV

Good morning and welcome to week four of the hit categories series! In retrospect, I probably should have titled it “hitter” categories, given that not all offensive categories amount to a type of hit. Water under the bridge, I suppose, because I’m not messing with the Roman numeral system now!

Anyway, as you’ve likely gathered, we’re moving away from hits and heading on to the basepaths. Speed is the name of the game today: stolen bases! I had to go with some minimum amount of stolen bases, so I settled on 15 as the qualifier. That leaves 65 entries: how many can you get? Good luck!

Quiz Parameters

  • I’ve allotted 10 minutes for completion attempts.
  • For hints, I’ve provided the season, number of stolen bases, and position of the player.

Useless information to amaze, annoy, confuse, and/or confound your friends and family:

  • The only player to lead the league in stolen bases from this list came in 2010, with 68.
  • 5 times, however a player from this list led the league in caught stealing (2011, 2010, 2006, 2005, 1990).
  • The last MLB player to record 100 or more stolen bases in a season was Cardinal outfielder Vince Coleman in 1987, with 109. (He also finished with more than 100 in 1986 and 1985)
